COVID-19 Update 17 June 2021

COVID-19 Update 17 June 2021

In case you missed it, yesterday I announced a change in the update schedule: I’ll be continuing the daily updates through tomorrow, after which I plan to switch to weekly updates starting on Monday.

SALEM: NO CHANGES!

  • Total: 2,966 confirmed cases in Salem
  • Salem since last update: new cases
  • Salem has had less than 5 active cases per day since June 2!!! We have yet to get down to zero.
  • 1 out of every 10 Salem residents has been infected.
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K for 14 days: Rate not calculated.
  • Salem’s Positivity Rate for the past 2 weeks: Data suppressed.

NEW HAMPSHIRE:

  • Slight decrease in active cases (-4)
  • The net number of hospitalized patients is the same as yesterday, despite a number of adjustments.
  • 8 more people were added to the cumulative total of ICU admittances
  • 2 more deaths were reported since yesterday
  • 13% of all new cases are in those aged 10-19. Yesterday, this was 12%.
  • NH DHHS has reported that 52.9% of all NH residents are fully vaccinated. 60.5% have received their first vaccine.

On Thursday, June 17, 2021, DHHS did not update the summary on the Summary Report, nor did they issue their daily press report, so some data is missing.

• • • • • • TODAY’S SUMMARY • • • • • •

  • There is no change in Salem’s data, which is great news!
  • There are 8 NH communities with a positivity rate of more than 0. (11 yesterday; 17 a week ago). There are 2 communities with a positivity rate higher than 2%. (5 yesterday, 8 a week ago). 1 community has more than 5% (2 a week ago). No communities have a positivity rate of more than 10%.
  • Today the new cases “by math” (last report vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) was 29. NH reported 31 more people have “recovered” since my last update. After allowing for those who lost their lives because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went down by 4 since my last report to 265. That’s 73 fewer active cases than we had a week ago. NH has added 157 new cases in the past week.
  • NH has had 40.3 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. One week ago, it was 48.5.
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 1.1%. One week ago, it was 5.0%.
  • DHHS is reporting a total of 1,551 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19. There was a number of adjustments in the ages report, but the net count is the same as yesterday. This is 12 less than last week. There was also an adjustment to the hospitalizations reported from Rockingham County since my last report; our county’s total hospitalization count DECREASED by 2, making our cumulative total 342.
  • The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 17 which is 1 less than the last report and 13 less than we had one week ago.
  • The cumulative total of ICU admissions increased by 8 since my last update; the total number of ICU admissions is 465. We have seen an increase of 15 ICU admissions in the past seven days.
  • Since NH DHHS very rarely explains why there are adjustments in their numbers, and we can see that they made adjustments since yesterday in the number of hospitalizations both by age and in our county, I find myself wondering if the changes in ICU admissions could include adjustments as well. Since they only provide the cumulative count, we can only guess.
  • Since my last report, 2 lives were lost due to COVID-19, bringing the total at 1,366 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 6 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. There have been no lives lost in Rockingham County; the total number of people who have died from our county is 264.

 • • • • • COMMUNITIES • • • • • •

  • DHHS reports that the new cases reside in the following counties:
This number was not reported today.
  • Only 3 communities, Rochester, Manchester, and Nashua have rates reported for new cases per 100K residents for the past 14 days

• • • • • • DIAGNOSTIC TESTS IN NH • • • • • •

  • New positive cases by my math: 29
  • New positive cases per DHHS: not reported
  • Total people who have tested positive: 99,196

• • • • • • CHANGES BY AGES • • • • • •

  • ??? children under 18 are included in today’s new cases.
  • ???% of new cases announced by DHHS today are kids under 18 years old.
Since DHHS didn’t update the summary info, this info isn’t available today.
