On Friday, June 4, 2021, DHHS announced 61 new positive test results for COVID-19. Today’s results include 40 people who tested positive by PCR test and 21 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 402 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire.

Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates.

Salem added 0 new cases, leaving our total at 2,963 Salem residents who have had confirmed case of COVID-19.
Salem’s active cases remains at somewhere between 1 and 4 total cases. Salem had 9 active cases one week ago. We had 1-4 cases on most days from Sep 22 to September 30, before things skyrocketed.
Salem’s new cases per 100K residents is too low to report. DHHS says “Rate Not Calculated: For towns with cumulative cases between 1-4 in the last 14 days, data limited to protect the privacy of individuals.” One week ago, it was 100.
Salem’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is too low to report. DHHS says, “Data Suppressed: This metric is not currently available at the town level.” One week ago, it was 2.5%. Salem’s positivity rate was 14.3% on Dec. 14.
There are 17 NH communities with a positivity rate of more than 0. (23 yesterday; 32 a week ago). There are 13 communities with a positivity rate higher than 2%. (18 yesterday; 27 a week ago). 4 communities have more than 5% (6 yesterday; 12 a week ago). 3 communities have a positivity rate of more than 10%. (2 yesterday and 4 a week ago.) 17 communities have a higher positivity rate than Salem’s. (22 a week ago; it was as high as 10 on March 28.)
Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) was 37. NH reported 57 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went down by 21 since yesterday’s report to 402. That’s 98 fewer active cases than we had a week ago. NH has added 227 new cases in the past week. We had this many active cases in early October. NH was down to 209 on September 4.
NH has had 67.4 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. One week ago, it was 434.4. All of the counties in NH are under 100, except Coos. Rockingham County is the only county that is under 50. So far.
NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 1.6%. One week ago, it was 5.0%. Counties range from 0.5% (Grafton County) to 8.1% (Coos County, which was 3.2% yesterday.)
DHHS is reporting a total of 1,484 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19. This is anincrease of 8 people since yesterday’s update, and an increase of 18 since last week. There were 0 hospitalizations reported from Rockingham County since yesterday; our county’s total hospitalization count is 325.
The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 32 which is 6 more than yesterday and 14 less than we had one week ago. We have had 36 new patients in the past week, with 23 of these patients being admitted in the last two days.
The cumulative total of ICU admissions increased by 4 since yesterday; the total number of ICU admissions is 436. We have seen an increase of 9 ICU admissions in the past seven days, and 7 new ICU patients in the last two days.
Since yesterday’s report, one life has been lost due to COVID-19, bringing the total of lives lost to 1,355 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 3 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. There have been no lives lost in Rockingham County since Wednesday, May 26; the total number of people who have died from our county is 262.

Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (11), Sullivan (8), Strafford (7), Coos (5), Belknap (4), Cheshire (3), Grafton (3), Rockingham (3), Carroll (1), and Merrimack (1) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (8) and Nashua (6). The county of residence is being determined for one new case.

Hello, Salem!

Let’s talk about the kids. From May 1 to now, NH DHHS has reported 3,714 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. 1,136 – 30.6% – of those new cases have been in kids under 18.

The CDC is expressing concern about the number of teens who are being hospitalized because of COVID-19. In the past month, the count of NH kids under 10 who have been hospitalized has increased from 8 to 10. Those aged 10-19 have increased from eight patients on May 1 to 11 now.

This uptick is a good reminder, no matter what your age, to stay safe, and always, be kind.
