• • • TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT• • • • • •
- Unfortunately, there is another person from Salem who has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
- With test result returned from 1,165 people, the positivity rate in NH is 2.92%, the highest it’s been this month. This is not overly alarming, especially on its own, but needs watching, because a rise in the positivity rate is often a precursor of an increase in hospitalizations and deaths.
- Some experts are concerned that “Boston” might be the next COVID-19 hotspot. Boston has a positivity rate with a daily average over the last two weeks of 6.0%. Lynn is looking at a 24.3% positivity rate. Chelsea, 19.2%. Revere, 18.4%. Some other towns include Lawrence, which is looking at an 8.5% positivity rate. Nearby Haverhill is 2.4%, and Methuen is 2.0.
- Current hospitalizations in NH has fallen to just 15 patients, a record low since I’ve had access to this data.
- Today the governor, in his press release clarified some points about school reopenings. Parents, or others, can read the details here.

These are not simply numbers. We must not forget that these are all someone’s husband or wife, mother or father, sister or brother, son or daughter, friend or neighbor.
On March 2, NH had its first case of COVID-19. August 13 is Day 165. It feels like a short time, and it feels like forever. We are all getting tired. Stress is rising. You don’t know what someone else is going through. And we don’t know what you are going through, either. If life gets challenging, there are resources to help. Hang in there, stay safe, and always, be kind.
