Today’s results include 139 people who tested positive by PCR test and 119 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 2,857 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today:

Test results for previous days are still being processed and the total number of new positives for those days are not yet complete. Updated case counts for prior days will be reflected on the COVID-19 interactive dashboard.
• • • • • • TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT • • • • • •
- Salem has less than 100 active cases!!! The last time Salem had less than 100 active cases was November 16. We reached our peak on December 27, when we had 232 active cases.
- Salem added only three new cases! Only one day has been lower than this since November 10.
- Salem’s “New Cases per 100K” (averaged over the past two weeks) is 561. The last time we were lower than this was December 3. We peaked at 1,189 on December 16. [Moderate Community Transmission is 50-100 cases per 100K, so we have a way to go, but we are getting there!)
- Salem’s “Antigen+PCR Test Positivity Rate” over the past week is 8.0%. Since I’ve been tracking this (Dec 3), it has been as low as 7.1 (February 6), and as high as 14.3 on December 14 and December 16). [Moderate Community Transmission is 5-10%, so we have a way to go, but we are getting there!)
- 20 communities have a Positivity Rate higher than Salem. Since I started tracking this on December 11, this has been as low as 11 (February 13), and as high as 79 (January 6.)
- NH DHHS reported only 258 new positive cases today, the exact same as yesterday. Yesterday 76.7% of the test results were from PCR tests. Today, it was only 48%.
- NH DHHS has issued some “odd” numbers for “Total Persons Tested at Selected Laboratories (PCR).” This cumulative number has gone down by 139 since yesterday. This has a cascading affect:
- Persons tested negative (Total tests minus confirmed positives): -337
- Total Tested Today by PCR: -139
- Total Negative: -139
- NH has 2,857 active cases, the lowest since November 13. NH peaked at almost hit 7,000 in late December.
- Only 293 NH residents were reported as “recovered” today, but that was still enough to bring us up over a total of 67,000 people.
- Since the last update, 3 people have been admitted to the hospital for the first time. All three were from Rockingham County.
- The number of patients who are currently in the hospital has decreased for the tenth consecutive day. Today’s 119 is the same as we had November 22.
- No one has been admitted to the ICU for the past three days.
- One more person died in NH from COVID since the last update. It’s been 29 days since we had a day without any fatalities.
- The cumulative count of fatalities for health care workers was adjusted down by one. DHHS has been reporting 11 such deaths since January 27, but today they are reporting 10.
- In Massachusetts, there have been over 500,000 people who have been reported as “recovered” and over 15 million tests.
• • • • • • Communities • • • • • •
- NH DHHS reports that the new cases reside in Rockingham (57), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (33), Grafton (23), Merrimack (21), Strafford (21), Cheshire (18), Carroll (9), Sullivan (9), Coos (6), and Belknap (5) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (27) and Nashua (14). The county of residence is being determined for fifteen new cases.

Hello, Salem!
Stay safe, and always, be kind.

The following video was posted almost two months ago. Things have changed in that time. On October 2, US deaths were 1,035,451, according to the video. (My records say 1,033,174 per WorldOmeter.) WorldOMeter now says the global death rate is 1,446,889, an increase of 413,715 in less than two months. Just please remember that there is a lot more between COVID->Death vs. COVID->Recovery. More and more, long-haulers are making the news, as are other consequences of COVID-19.
