• • • • • • TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT • • • • • •

  • Salem added just 5 new cases today. Our average for the past week is 10 new cases per day. For the week ending January 20, we averaged 18.7 new cases per day.
  • Salem’s active cases went down by 6, bringing us down to double digit numbers. Today is the lowest count since November 15.
  • 368 NH people were reported as “recovered” since yesterday’s update. This is less than our new cases, so NH’s number of active cases went up by another 25 to 3,081. We have 224 more active cases now than we had on Tuesday.
  • Since the last update, there have been no persons who have been admitted to the hospital for the first time. The last time we had no hospital admissions was late December.
  • The number of patients who are currently in the hospital is 109, the lowest we’ve had since November 20.
  • The total number of people who have been admitted to the ICU has not changed since Wednesday.
  • One person died in NH from COVID since the last update. The average for the past week is 3 fatalities per week, down from 5 per day for the previous week. This week last month we averaged 9 fatalities per day.
  • I’ve added a chart of NH Communities with either the most cumulative cases, the most  active cases or the most cumulative cases per population.

NH Communities with more than 50 cumulative cases.

The following video was posted almost two months ago. Things have changed in that time. On October 2, US deaths were 1,035,451, according to the video. (My records say 1,033,174 per WorldOmeter.) WorldOMeter now says the global death rate is 1,446,889, an increase of 413,715 in less than two months. Just please remember that there is a lot more between COVID->Death vs. COVID->Recovery. More and more, long-haulers are making the news, as are other consequences of COVID-19.
