COVID-19 Update March 11
- Total: 2,435 confirmed cases in Salem.
- Salem’s Positivity Rate for the past 2 weeks: 6.1%
- 1 out of every 12 Salem residents has been infected
- Salem today: 7 new case; 59 active cases.

On Thursday, March 11, 2021, DHHS announced 341 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 1.8%. Today’s results include 193 people who tested positive by PCR test and 148 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 2,114 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today:
- 3/10: 341 new cases
Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates.

- Ugh. NH had more new cases today than we’ve had in two weeks, and fewer “recovered cases than we’ve had in a month.
- Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) was 301. NH reported 186 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives today because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went up by 111 to 2,114.
- Salem added 7 new cases today, the same as our daily average for the past week.
- Salem’s active cases are back up to 59. We have lost all of the progress we’ve made in the last week and a half. But people who have recovered was down today, which could account for this.
- Rockingham County has passed 19,000 cases. Our county makes up ¼ of all cases in the State, and ¼ of all of the active cases in NH.
- DHHS is reporting four more total hospitalized patients today.
- The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 78, three more than yesterday. This is the third day in a row with an increase in hospitalizations.
- NH’s cumulative ICU admissions remains at 352, which is where we were on Wednesday.
- There were four new COVID-19 deaths reported for the period covered by this report, including one person from Rockingham County. One of today’s losses was a resident of a long-term care facility.

- NH DHHS reports that the new cases reside in Rockingham (87), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (55), Strafford (40), Merrimack (34), Belknap (14), Cheshire (14), Coos (14), Grafton (12), Carroll (6), and Sullivan (4) counties, and in the cities of Nashua (23) and Manchester (22). The county of residence is being determined for sixteen new cases.

Hello, Salem!
Governor Sununu, in a press conference today, reported that 280,000 residents (21%) of NH have had their 1st dose of one of the three vaccines, and 132,000 (10%) residents have been fully vaccinated. 60,000 doses were administered in the past week.
His team also reported that they have been testing positive specimen samples for the variants. There are three major variants that they are concerned about. The B117 United Kingdom variant has been found in every state. The South African and Brazil variant have not yet been found in NH. All three are more infectious.
In NH, the B117 UK variant was found in 9 out of 750 samples (1%). It has been found in multiple counties but has not yet been found in Rockingham County. Some, but not all of the nine people infected with B117, have been traveling outside of the area.

The following video was posted almost two months ago. Things have changed in that time. On October 2, US deaths were 1,035,451, according to the video. (My records say 1,033,174 per WorldOmeter.) WorldOMeter now says the global death rate is 1,446,889, an increase of 413,715 in less than two months. Just please remember that there is a lot more between COVID->Death vs. COVID->Recovery. More and more, long-haulers are making the news, as are other consequences of COVID-19.
