  • Total: 303 confirmed cases in Salem
  • 1 out of every 98 Salem residents has been infected
  • Salem Today: 1 new cases, 8 active cases

  • Salem had a great run, but unfortunately, it is over. We had one new case today. Despite that, we are down to 8 active cases, which is good news.
  • NH DHHS has reported 23 new cases today, with a cumulative total of 21 new cases.
  • Happily, only one more NH child under 18 has been infected
  • NH reported 1,388 test results; the positivity rate is 1.51%.
  • Another 51 people have “recovered.” This has brought several of the communities that I’ve been watching down to zero active cases.
  • Exeter became the 24th NH community to have more than 50 active cases.
  • I did a quick look at NH communities; see the new chart, below the calendar.
  • Total hospitalizations went up by one, but the number of people currently hospitalized went down by one.
  • There have been no new COVID-19 fat­alities in NH for the past week!
  • The increase in new global cases from yesterday to today is 306,979 new cases, a new record since I’ve been tracking these numbers. The two-week average is 261,019. New cases in the US were up by 51,272; the two-week average is “only” 42,128.

These are not simply numbers. We must not forget that these are all someone’s husband or wife, mother or father, sister or brother, son or daughter, friend or neighbor.

 

And so we begin a long weekend. Happy Labor Day!  Experts are concerned about the possibility of superspreader events, so be please enjoy yourself, but still, be smart, stay safe, and always, be kind.
