COVID-19 Update 14 April 2021

  • Total: 2,784 confirmed cases in Salem

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, DHHS announced 412 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 2.4%. Today’s results include 259 people who tested positive by PCR test and 153 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 3,544 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today:

  • Salem added 11 new cases in the past two days, bringing our total to 2,784 Salem residents who have had confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Salem’s active cases has increased by 8 since yesterday to 96. Salem had 78 active cases one week ago.
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K residents is 459. Yesterday, it was 463. One week ago, it was 453.
  • Salem’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 7.5%, a “moderate” level of community transmission. Yesterday it was 8%. One week ago, it was 7.1%. 
  • Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) were 378. NH reported 243 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives today because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went up by 131 to 3,544 since yesterday. That’s 41 fewer active cases than we had a week ago.
  • NH has had 429.6 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. Yesterday, it was 436.4. One week ago, it was 402.0.
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 5.3%. Yesterday it was 5.3%. One week ago, it was 5.2%.
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR results returned today is 2.4%, which is “moderate” community transmission. Yesterday it was 3.4%. A week ago, it was 3.5%.
  • DHHS is reporting a total of 1,270 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19.  This is an increase of 3 since yesterday’s update, and an increase of 23 since last week. There were no new hospitalizations today from Rockingham County, leaving our county’s total at 287.
  • The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 118 which is 5 less than yesterday, and 16 more than a week ago. 
  • The last time we had more than this many patients hospitalized with COVID-19 was February 18.
  • The cumulative total of ICU admissions increased by 1 since yesterday, bringing the total to 380. We have seen an increase of 3 ICU admissions in the past seven days. 
  • Today NH DHHS reported that there were four lives lost for the period covered by this report, bringing the total to 1,261 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 7 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. Today’s numbers include one person who died from Rockingham County, bringing the total to 235 lives lost in our county.

DHHS reports that the new cases reside in the following counties: 
Rockingham (86), Strafford (71), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (66), Merrimack (30), Belknap (29), Grafton (25), Cheshire (15), Carroll (12), Sullivan (10), and Coos (9) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (40) and Nashua (12). The county of residence is being determined for seven new cases.
