COVID-19 Update 16 April 2021

  • Total: 2,804 confirmed cases in Salem
  • Salem today: 13 new cases

On Friday, April 16, 2021, DHHS announced 423 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 2.8%. Today’s results include 254 people who tested positive by PCR test and 169 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 3,751 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today:

  • Today, Salem became the 4th NH community to have more than 2,800 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Only Manchester (11,129), Nashua (7488), and Concord (2,862) have had more cumulative cases than Salem. 
  • Salem added 13 new cases in the past two days, bringing our total to 2,804 Salem residents who have had confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Salem’s active cases is unchanged since yesterday’s 94. Salem had 73 active cases one week ago.
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K residents is 463. Yesterday, it was 443. One week ago, it was 412.
  • Salem’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 8.3%, a “moderate” level of community transmission. Yesterday it was 8.3%. One week ago, it was 7.0%. 
  • Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) were 385. NH reported 395 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives today because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went down by 12 to 3,751 since yesterday. That’s 62 more active cases than we had a week ago.
  • NH has had 438.6 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. Yesterday, it was 438.6. One week ago, it was 420.7
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 5.3%. Yesterday it was 5.3%. One week ago, it was 5.3%.
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR results returned today is 2.8%, which is “moderate” community transmission. Yesterday it was 3.0%. A week ago, it was 3.6%.
  • DHHS is reporting a total of 1,276 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19.  This is an increase of 3 since yesterday’s update, and an increase of 19 since last week. There were 0 new hospitalization today from Rockingham County; our county’s total hospitalizations is 288.
  • The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 132 which is 2 more than yesterday, and 22 more than a week ago. 
  • The last time we had more than this many patients hospitalized with COVID-19 was February 11.
  • The cumulative total of ICU admissions is unchanged since yesterday, leaving the total at 381. We have seen an increase of 4 ICU admissions in the past seven days. 
  • Today NH DHHS reported that there were 2 lives lost for the period covered by this report, bringing the total to 1,266 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 10 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. Today’s numbers include 1 person who died from Rockingham County, bringing the total to 238 lives lost in our county.  
  • Today, WorldOMeter reported that globally we just passed 140 Million people who have had confirmed cases of COVID-19, and globally we just passed 3 Million people who have died. (That’s 2.1%)

DHHS reports that the new cases reside in the following counties: 
Rockingham (98), Strafford (60), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (54), Merrimack (24), Belknap (21), Cheshire (20), Grafton (17), Carroll (12), Coos (12), and Sullivan (12) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (37) and Nashua (32). The county of residence is being determined for twenty- four new cases.
