COVID-19 Update 3 April 2021

  • Total: 2,670 confirmed cases in Salem. 
  • Salem today: 10 new cases since Thursday; 94 active cases.
  • 1 out of every 11 Salem residents has been infected
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K for 14 days: 480 yesterday.
  • Salem’s Positivity Rate for the past 2 weeks: 6.9%

On Saturday, April 3, 2021, DHHS announced 440 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 2.8%. Today’s results include 232 people who tested positive by PCR test and 208 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 3,681 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today:

  • Salem added 11 new cases since Thursday, bringing our total to 2,670 Salem residents who have had confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Salem’s active cases has decreased by 5 in the past two days to 94. Salem had 89 active cases one week ago. 
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K residents is 480. On Thursday, it was 480. One week ago, it was 530.
  • Salem’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 6.9%, a “moderate” level of community transmission. One week ago, it was 10.8%. 
  • Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) was 438. NH reported 100 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives today because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went up by 336 to 3,681 since yesterday. That’s 915 more active cases than we had a week ago.
  • We haven’t had this many active cases since February 6. We were down to 1, 997 on March 9. NH’s peak was 6,994 active cases on December 27.
  • NH has had 369.5 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. One week ago, it was 325.4
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 4.8%. Yesterday it was 4.8%. One week ago, it was 4.6%.
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR results returned today is 2.8%. Yesterday it was 2.7%. A week ago, it was 2.9%.
  • DHHS is reporting a total of 1,224 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19.  This is an increase of 19 since Thursday’s update, and an increase of 36 since last week. There were 7 new hospitalizations today from Rockingham County, bringing our county’s total to 279.
  • The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 85 which is 4 more than Thursday, and 9 more than a week ago. 
  • The cumulative total of ICU admissions increased by 5 for the period covered by this report, for a total of 372. We have seen an increase of 7 ICU admissions in the past seven days. 
  • Today NH DHHS reported that there were 2 lives lost for the period covered by this report, bringing the total to 1,247 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 10 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. Today’s numbers include 1 person who died from Rockingham County, for a total of 229 lives lost in our county.

DHHS reports that the new cases reside in the following counties: 
Rockingham (119), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (67), Merrimack (44), Strafford (37), Belknap (20), Carroll (17), Cheshire (15), Grafton (10), Coos (8), and Sullivan (6) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (46) and Nashua (24). The county of residence is being determined for twenty- seven new cases.
