COVID-19 Update August 18

  • Total: 292 confirmed cases
  • 1 out of every 101 Salem residents has been infected.
  • Salem Today: 0 new cases, 11 active cases.

 

• • • • TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT• • • • • •

  • None of the 13 new infections reported in NH today were Salem residents.
  • Results were returned for less than 1,000 tests; with a positivity rate of 1.39%.
  • The daily average of tests returned over the past week is only 922 tests per day.
  • No children were reported today to have been diagnosed with COVID. It has been a week since we had a day without a child infected. Over the past week, there has been a daily average of more than 2.5 children per day, and just under 2.5 per day over the past two weeks.
  • We are down to 260 active cases in the state.
  • Although we added three more people who have been hospitalized, the hospital cens­­­­­­us has gone down by three, to 12 patients.
  • Sadly, NH lost another victim from COVID, a male from Rockingham County, aged over 60.
  • Nashua has now had more than 800 people that have been infected with coronavirus.
  • Massachusetts’ positivity rate is pretty similar to NH.

These are not simply numbers. We must not forget that these are all someone’s husband or wife, mother or father, sister or brother, son or daughter, friend or neighbor.

We are all tired, which means we are going to get sloppy. I can see it, even in people that I care about. We have good numbers because we have been acting carefully and responsibly.
