COVID-19 Update March 27

  • Total: 2,612 confirmed cases in Salem. 
  • Salem today: 14 new case; 93 active cases.
  • 1 out of every 11 Salem residents has been infected

On Saturday, March 27, 2021, DHHS announced 401 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 2.0%. Today’s results include 242 people who tested positive by PCR test and 159 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 2,818 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today:

Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates.

  • Salem added 14 new cases today, bringing our total to 2,612 Salem residents who have had confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Salem’s active cases has decreased by 1 since yesterday to 93. Salem had 83 active cases one week ago. 
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K residents is 520. Yesterday it was 510. One week ago, it was 422.
  • Salem’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 9.7%, a “moderate” level of community transmission. Yesterday it was 9.7%. One week ago, it was 8.3%. (Note: Not one town had a change in their positivity rate, making me question if this dashboard was updated today.)
  • Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) was 371. NH reported 267 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives today because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went up by 100 to 2,818 since yesterday. That’s 441 more active cases than we had a week ago.
  • NH has had 316.9 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. Yesterday it was 316.9. One week ago, it was 287.3
  •  NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 4.6%. Yesterday it was 4.6%. One week ago, it was 3.9%. (NH’s new cases per 100K AND NH’s positivity rate are both unchanged from yesterday. Did these get updated?)
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR results returned today is 2.0%. Yesterday it was 2.9%. A week ago, it was 2.4%.
  • DHHS is reporting a total of 1,185 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19.  This is a DECREASE of 13 since yesterday’s update, and an increase of 2 since last week. There was one less new hospitalization today from Rockingham County, bringing our county’s total to 266.
  • Cumulative changes in total hospitalizations were for those aged 10-19 (minus 2); for those aged 20-29 (minus 1); for those aged 40-49 (minus 1); for those aged 50-59 (minus 2); for those in their 60’s (minus 2); for those in their 70’s (minus 1) and for those in their 80’s (minus 4).
  • The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 78 which is 7 more than yesterday, and 6 more than a week ago. 
  • The cumulative total of ICU admissions has increased by 2 for the period covered by this report, for a total of 364. We have seen an increase of 4 ICU admissions in the past seven days. 
  • Today NH DHHS reported that there were 4 lives lost for the period covered by this report, for a total of 1,235 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 18 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. Today’s numbers include one person who died from Rockingham County, for a total of 225 lives lost in our county.
  • Today was the second day in a row that we have lost people under the age of 60 due to COVID-19.

DHHS reports that the new cases reside in the following counties: 
Rockingham (95), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (58), Merrimack (48), Strafford (48), Grafton (18), Cheshire (13), Belknap (12), Carroll (11), Sullivan (9), and Coos (9) and counties, and in the cities of Manchester (34) and Nashua (24). The county of residence is being determined for twenty-two new cases.
