COVID-19 Update March 29

  • Total: 2,6125 confirmed cases in Salem. 
  • Salem today: 7 new case; 88 active cases.
  • 1 out of every 11 Salem residents has been infected
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K for 14 days: 27
  • Salem’s Positivity Rate for the past 2 weeks: 9.5%

On Monday, March 29, 2021, DHHS announced 272 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 9.7%. Please note, there have been an additional 47 cases added to the case count, in addition to the new cases above. These cases were identified during data quality assurance activities and are from November 2020 through March 2021. Today’s results include 161 people who tested positive by PCR test and 111 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 2,785 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire. Of the results reported today: 

  • 3/28: 272 new cases 

Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates.

  • Salem added 7 new cases today, bringing our total to 2,625 Salem residents who have had confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Salem’s active cases has decreased by 1 since yesterday to 88. Salem had 91 active cases one week ago. 
  • Salem’s new cases per 100K residents is 527. Yesterday it was 530. One week ago, it was 466.
  • Salem’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 9.5%, a “moderate” level of community transmission. Yesterday it was 10.8%, a “severe” level of transmission. One week ago, it was 10.0%. 
  • Today the new cases “by math” (yesterday vs. today’s cumulative total of positive cases as reported by DHHS) was 313. NH reported 294 people have “recovered” since yesterday’s update. After allowing for those who lost their lives today because of COVID-19, NH’s number of active cases went up by 19 to 2,785 since yesterday. That’s 309 more active cases than we had a week ago.
  • NH has had 329.8 new cases per 100K residents in the past 14 days. Yesterday it was 325.4. One week ago, it was 300.0.
  •  NH’s positivity rate for PCR & antigen results in the past week is 4.6%. Yesterday it was 4.6%. One week ago, it was 4.3%. 
  • NH’s positivity rate for PCR results returned today is 9.7%. Yesterday it was 2.9%. A week ago, it was 3.5%.
  • DHHS is reporting a total of 1,192 people who have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19.  This is an increase of 4 since yesterday’s update, and an increase of 8 since last week. There was one more new hospitalization today from Rockingham County, bringing our county’s total to 268.
  • The number of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 73 which is 3 less than yesterday, and 9 more than a week ago. 
  • The cumulative total of ICU admissions has increased by 2 for the period covered by this report, for a total of 375. We have seen an increase of 7 ICU admissions in the past seven days. 
  • Today NH DHHS reported that there were no lives lost for the period covered by this report, leaving the total at 1,237 people who have died in NH due to COVID-19. We have lost 19 people in NH due to COVID-19 in the past week. Today’s numbers include no persons who died from Rockingham County, for a total of 226 lives lost in our county.

  • DHHS reports that the new cases reside in the following counties: 
    Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (70), Rockingham (57), Strafford (24), Merrimack (17), Belknap (11), Cheshire (9), Grafton (7), Carroll (5), Sullivan (2), and Coos (1) counties, and in the cities of Nashua (25) and Manchester (17). The county of residence is being determined for twenty-seven new cases. 
  • Rockingham County is not first in this list, for the first time in a long time.
